DUNEDIN CLUB MEETS

FIRST SOCIAL EVENING The members of the Dunedin Club held their first bridge and dance even- j ing of the season in the club rooms last evening, when there was a splendid attendance. The ballroom and lounge were attractively decorated with streamers and flowers, and made a dainty setting for th® colourful gowns of the women guests. Mr. E. C. Cutten welcomed new members during the evening, and expressed his pleasure at seeing all the old ones back, and M.rs. K. Raymond, the club hostess, received the members on arrival. She wore a charming gown of heavily sequined black chiffon panelled with briar pink georgette. Mr. Shaw was in charge of the bridge tournament, at which the prizes were won by Miss D. Farquhar, Mr. Clark and Mr. Poole. Songs were given during the evening by Mr. Richards. Mrs. H. F. Wright, cedar rose georgette gown. Mrs. W. H. Faulkner, black beaded georgette gown. ONEHUNGA CROQUET CLUB CHAMPION FLAG UNFURLED In recognition of the achievement , of the Onehunga Croquet Club in winning the Auckland championship nine years in succession, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buchanan have presented the ! club with a memorial flag, and Mr. Stephen Westney, a veteran Onehunga bowler, has donated the flagstaff. The ceremony of unfurling the flag took place yesterday afternoon. in the presence of a large number of croquet players and bowlers. Mrs. C. J. Schnauer. president of the croquet club, suitably acknowledged the gifts, and thanked Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan and Mr. Westney for their generosity. Mrs. Buchanan, who is a life member of the club, said that the champion team, having beaten every other club in Auckland for the ninth successive year, was entitled to the admiration of every lover of the game. She then unfurled the flag, which, fluttering in a soft breeze, displayed on a blue background the superscription in golden letters “A.C.A.. Inter-club Champions, Onehunga. 1921-1929.” The new flagstaff is placed near the entrance to the croquet and bowling greens in Selwyn Street. Onehunga. and when the new flag, together with the nine smaller pennants, are flown on special occasoins. they should attract considerable attention.
