PERSONAL. —Captain A. M. Edwin, coastal pilot, arrived at Auckland this morning from Wellington. Captain A. R. Stewart, of the Kaimanawa, and Captain F. J. G. Warren, of the Kaponga, have exchanged vessels. Mr. J. D. Lundie has been appointed chief officer of the Tofua, relieving Mr. H. L. P. Brown for holidays. Mr. P. D. Thompson is flow second officer of the Kaimanawa. MAM I LI US AT LON DON.—Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savili and Albion Company that the Mamilius arirved at London on Sunday from Lyttelton. The vessel left Lyttelton on March 6. VESTVARD CHARTERED. The motor-ship Vestvard has been chartered to load at Gulf of Mexico ports for Australia or New Zealand. She is a Norwegian vessel and -was at Auckland last September. TREGONNEL WITH SUGAR.—Due at Auckland at 6 a.m. on Saturday from Cuba, the steamer Tregonnel will later berth at the works at Chelsea to unload a cargo of raw sugar. Spedding, Ltd., will act as the local agents. TOFUA SAILS SATURDAY. —The local office of the Union Company advises that the Island passenger steamer Tofua will be dispatched from Auckland at 11 a.m. on Saturday .on her usual monthly trip to Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa. PIRI FOR SOUTHERN PORTS.—Mr. C. E. Campbell advises that the Nobel Explosive Company’s schooner I’iri will probably be dispatched with explosives for New Plymouth, Greymouth, Westport, Wellington and Dunedin on -Saturday. HORORATA LEAVES COLON.—Cabled advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Hororata arrived at Panama last Friday from Auckland, and left Colon on the same day for London. She sailed from Auckland on March 21. KENT LEAVES LIVERPOOL. A cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Federal steamer Kent sailed from Liverpool on April 13 with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and New Plymouth. She is due at Auckland about May 22. SYDNEY STEAMERS.—The UlJmaroa leaves Auckland at 31 a.m. to-morrow for Sydney, and both the Maunganui and the Marama leave Sydney at 3 p.m. tomorrow for Auckland and Wellington respectively. All the three vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday morning. BRITISH GLORY LEAVES SAN PEDRO.—Cabled advice received by the Union Company reports that the tanker British Glory arrived at San Pedro on Saturday, and left again on Sunday for Wellington. The vessel brings fuel oil for discharge into the company's tanks at Miramar, and is due there on Alay 7. TUTANEKAI ARRI V l N G.—The Marine Department advises that the lighthouse steamer Tutanekai is expected at Auckland this afternoon from the Kermadecs, where she has been overhauling the supplies. She is to berth at the Prince’s Wharf. To-morrow she loads stores, etc., for the northern lighthouses. POOLTA TO SURVEY.—The local office of the Union Company advises that the steamer Poolta, from Australia via New Plymouth, leaves Wellington tomorrow, and Picton on Saturday, for Auckland. She is due here on Tuesday, and after discharge, undergoes overhaul and survey at this port before proceeding to Grafton. DEVON TO LOAD.—The Federal Company reports that the Devon is to leave Brisbane to-morrow morning for Bluff, to commence loading for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain. The vessel will subsequently load also at Port Chalmers, Timaru, New Plymouth Wanganui and Wellington. She is timed to sail finally from Wellington about Alay 16. AELYBRYN LEAVES WESTPORT.— Advice has been received by Henderson and Alacfarlane that the steamer Aelybryn left Westport at 6.30 a.m. to-day for Auckland, and is due here on Sunday. On Alonday the vessel docks to have her hull cleaned and painted before proceeding on Tuesday to the Islands to load phosphates for New Zealand or Australia.

AORANGI AT SUVA.—According to cable advice received by the local office of the Union Company, the R.M.AI.S. Aorangi arrived at Suva at nine o’clock this morning from Vancouver, via Victoria and Honolulu. The liner leaves the Fijian port at three o’clock this afternoon for Auckland, where she is due on Sunday afternoon. The vessel berths at the Prince's Wharf, and at ten o’clock on Monday evening leaves Auckland for Sydney.

OTIRA DUE SATURDAY.—L. D. Nathan and Company advise that the Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Otira leaves Waikokopu at eight o’clock this evening for Auckland, where she is due on Saturday to continue her loading. She has been allotted a berth at the Central Wharf. The vessel sails from this port on April 24 for Wellington, where she completes loading, and finally departs on April 00 for London, via Montevideo and Rio de Janeiro.

MAILS ARRIVING.—The Acting-Chief Postmaster advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, due at Auckland from Vancouver on Sunday, April 21, brings 416 bags of English and American mail for Auckland. CARGO FROM THE EAST.—The Union Company's Indian trader Sussex, en vouto from Calcutta, cleared Rangoon on April 11 for Penang, Singapore and Samarang, to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is now scheduled to reach Auckland on May 15. RANGITOTO FOR COROMANDEL. — The Northern Company advises that the Rangitoto is scheduled to sail for Coromandel at noon on Monday. She will leave Coromandel at 6 o’clock the same evening and reach Auckland four hours later. At noon on Tuesday the Rangitoto will be dispatched for Thames. ROTORUA FROM HOME.—Due at Auckland on Saturday afternoon from London and Southampton, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua will land passengers and mails here, and discharge her cargo at Auckland. Wellington, and New Plymouth. No oFTTh has yet been allotted to the Rotorua. NITRATES FROM CHILE. The steamer Baron Pentland has chartered to load a full cargo of nitrate of soda at Chilean ports for discharge # t Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaiue and Premantle. She is to sail from Chile at the end of May and is due at Auckland early in July. BENHOLM CLEARED PANAMA. —En route from New York to Auckland, 'Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, the steamer Benholm cleared Panama last Monday. The vessel is under charter to the A. and A. Line, and the New Zealand Shipping Company are the local agents. She is due at Auckland about May 10. GABRIELLA ARRIVES.—An arrival in port shortly before noon to-day was the Lamb’s steamer Gabriella from Port Stephens and Newcastle, with timber and coal for discharge at Auckland and East Coast ports, She is to berth at the Central Wharf this afternoon. The Northern Company will act as the local agents. THE MAUI POMARE.—Spedding, Ltd. advises that the Government motor-ship Maui Pomare, which left Auckland on Monday evening, is to load fruit at Apia and Niue Island for Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. The vessel is due at Lyttelton on May 4 and at Auckland about four days later. On May 10 she is scheduled to leave Auckland for Norfolk Island. PHOSPHATES FROM CASABLANCA —The steamer Baron Maclay has been chararted to load a cargo of phosphates at Casablanca, Morocco, for discharge at Auckland. It was formerly reported that the Clan Maelay had been chartered to load sulphur at Galveston for Now Zealand and Australia. The Insholairnio will probably take the sulphur loading. TASMANIA DUE TO-MORROW—Leav-ing Gisborne to-day for Auckland, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tasmania is due here to-morrow to complete her loading. She will berth at the Queen’s Wharf. Efforts are being made to dispatch the vessel next Wednesday for New York, Boston, Halifax, and West Coast ports of England, via Panama. ARRIVALS AT LONDON.—The Scottish Shire Line steamer Argyllshire, the Federal Line steamer Northumbei'land, and the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Hurunui are reported to have reached London from New Zealand last Tuesday. The Argyllshire ai/. the Northumberland were dispatched from Wellington on March 9. and the Hurunui from Lyttelton on February 27. RARANGA SAILS TO-MORROW.—At 6 a.m. to-morrow A. S. Paterson and Company hope to dispatch the Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Raranga fropi Auckland for- Tokomaru Bay, thence Wellington, to fill up for Home. The vessel is expected to clear Wellington finally next Wednesday for London and West Coast ports of England, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. TAINUI SAILS SATURDAY.—Now completing her discharge of London cargo at Auckland, the Shaw, Savill. and Albion liner Tainui commences load in** here, and leaves at 5 a.m. on Saturday for Opua, thence Napier, Timaru, and Wellington, to complete loading. The vessel is scheduled to sail finally from Wellington on May 9 for Southampton and London, via Panama. A. S. Paterson and Co. are the local agents.
