“CAPTAIN LASH” TO-MORROW This evening- will see the final presentation at the Majestic Theatre of the current programme, which includes the exciting film, “ The Further Adventures of the Flag Lieutenant.” Admirers of Victor McLaglen, the Fox Film star, will be out in force at the Majestic on Friday, when “Captain Lash,” his new starring vehicle, will be on view. Advance reports to reach here indicate that “Captain Lash” is a perfect story for McLaglen and that he has received incomparable direction by John G. Blystone. McLaglen plays the title role of “Captain Lash,” a name pinned on him because of' his way of driving his men as with a whip in the stokehole of an ocean liner. Lash has two obsessions in life—he loves to fight and fights to love. Obviously this gets him into trouble, from which he Is extricated by his buddy, Cocky, a diminutive seaman, played by Clyde Cook. iTowever, when Claire Windsor, beautiful and blonde, a passenger on a ship bound for Singapore, comes into his life, she makes of him a weakling. But he # is taught a lesson, and decides that, after all, his Babe of Singapore, a former sweetheart, is the most dependable giiT' -for Tiim. The central figure in two rip-roaring fights in the picture,- one in a public house in Sydney and the other in a private house in Singapore, McLaglen has a splendid opportunity to display his prowess at pugilism. Arthur Stone, Jane Winton, Albert Conti, Jean Laverty and Boris Charsky have other important roles in “Captain Lash,” which is credited as being the most entertaining starring vehicle McLaglen has had. The supporting programme to-mor-row will include a Majestic Magazine, a comedy, an enjoyable firm, “Songs of Ireland,” with special musical accompaniment from Mr. Whiteford Waugh’s Majestic Orchestra. and “Shadowland.” a stage presentation of a study in silhouette. SUBURBAN THEATRES At the Grey Lynn Cinema this evening the pictures are "The Phantom City” (Ken Maynard) and “Tall Timbers” (an all-Australian cast with Billio Sim). The Capitol Theatre, Dominion Rond, is to screen “Beau Sabreur” (Gary Cooper), and “Skirts” (Betty. Balfour and Syd. Chapin). The Prince Edward Theatre will show “Take Me Home” (Robe Daniels) , and “Sunrise” (Janet Gaynor and George O’Brien). At the Empire Theatre, Dominion Road, the pictures are “Two Red Roses” (Liane Hand), and “lloofbeats of Vengeance” (Hoot Gibson). The Edendale Theatre will present “Skirts” (Betty Balfour and Syd. Chaplin), also “Odds On” (an all-Aus-tralian cast with Phyllis-Gibbs). At the Parish Hall, Devonport, the following pictures will be shown this evening: “Prep and Pep” (David Rollins) and “The Battles of Coronel and Falkland Islands.”
