“SYNTHETIC SIN” Colleen Moore, whose popularity lias grown during- the past few years, until she occupies a position at the very peak of her profession, heads the cast in the stellar role of “Synthetic Sin,” which is regarded as the most delightful story in which she has ever appeared. “Synthetic Sin” is the big attraction at the Plaza and Tivoli Theatres to-morrow. She portrays an unsophisticated voting Southern girl, who becomes involved in adven.tures of the most in search of “exciting nature while in search of ‘ ‘experience that will equip her for a career as an actress. Seldom has charming Colleen played a role providing greater opportunity for her genius as a comedienne, for she is seen in a variety of scenes ranging from blackface burlesque to hilarious comedy-melodrama. Antonio Moreno, was selected as Miss Moore’s leading man. Moreno has become a popular favourite through a long series of successful portrayals, including featured roles in such pictures as ‘The Temptress,’’ “It,” “Mare Nostrum,” and “Beverley of Graustark.” In “Synthetic Sin” he enacts a young playwright faced with the task of extricating the little southern girl from the tangles into which her ambition leads her. Montagu Love, the veteran character actor, has another important part in th© role of Brandy Mullane. remembered os a particularly colourful character by those who saw the stage version of “Synthetic Sin.” Th© famous Hex Beach best-selling novel, “The Michigan Kid.” has been made into a sensational motion picture by Universal, and will open at these theatres as the second attraction to-morrow, with Conrad Xagel and Renee Adoree in the stellar roles. In the supporting cast are Lloyd Whitlock. P'red Esmelton, Adolph Milar. Maurice Murphy, Virginia Grey, and Dick Palm. Excellent supporting pictures will also be shown, and new music played by Howard Moody’s Symphony Orchestra An additional picture this evening will be another of the well-known “Collegians'' series, entitled “Calford on Horseback.”
