RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM
“SCARLET SEAS’’ What happens to a man’s soul when with a girl of the underworld, adrift, ho finds himself in mid-ocean, alone hungry, thirsty, and baked by a broiling sun? A man who had not believed in God or man? This is the problem that is solved in dramatic fashion in “Scarlet Seas,’’ starring Richard Bartlielmess, which comes to the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) theatres this evening. Barthelmess is supported by an ex- ! ceptionally capable cast, headed by j Betty Compson in the feminine lead | and Loretta Young as the featured ingenue. The heavy role is enacted by Jack Curtis, who is fast becoming one of the meanest villains on the screen, while other colourful roles are played by Knute Erickson. James Bradbury, sen., and Larry Fisher. “Naughty Baby,” which will also be shown to-morrow, is a delightfully amusing comedy of New Y r ork life, starring Alice White and Jack Mulhall.
