W. New has already a b ig string of youngsters undergoing their education, his hands promise to be full for some time to come for, on his recent trip to Gisborne, he secured an additional quintet, four being yearling products of the Hurry On horse. Hunting Song, and the fifth a foal by the Polynielus —Nation horse. Colossus. Yearling black colt by Hunting Song from Merry Roe. by Soult. Merry Roe’s dam was Grey Roe, by St. Hippo—Ellerslie, by Trenton from the 1886 mare by First King—Lady Granville, by Chandos— Lady Chester (imp.), by Stockwell. The Youngster coroes from a well-known family, previous members who have raced successfully being Kilroe (by Kilbroney). Sunny Roe (by Sunny Lake). Merry Damon (by Polydamon). Merry Mint (by Catmint) and Merry Melody (by Catmint). Yearling black colt by Hunting Song from St. Helen, who was by Signor—Helen Portland, by Dorchester —Lady Helen, by Phil Athol —Lady Fanny, by Barbarian— Lady Elizabeth, by Sir Hercules —Geogiana, by Aether —Georgiana, by Cap-a-pie—Kater’s Georgiana (imp.), by Waverley. A well-known member of this family was Helen Winkie (by Winkie).
