Union Rugby REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE A match between the Ponsonby seniors and a senior representative team from the Franklin and Pukekohe Rugby Unions is to be played at Tuakau on Saturday. The FranklinPukekohe team selected for the match is as follows: Fullback, G. Willis (Pukekohe); threequarters, S. Revell (Franklin), J. Wood (Pukekohe), G. Brownlee (Pukekohe); five-eighths, L. HAMILTON’S GOOD YEAR According to the report to be submitted at the annual meeting of the Hamilton Rugby Sub-Union to-mor-row evening, a highly successful season was experienced by the subunion last winter. Forty-six teams of all grades played in the various competition matches. Improvements have been carried out at Rugby Park. Another stand, with accommodation for 600 people, has been built. The Rugby code has been fostered in the Taupiri district, and a* new sub-union, comprising eight clubs, has been formed and will apply for affiliation with the Waikato Union next week. Good work has been done by the Junior Advisory Board. The committee has paid £269 8s lOd to injured players, and a deficiency of £24 12s has been met out of the general fund. THAMES UNION At the annual meeting of the Thames Rugby Union the financial statement disclosed a deficit of £122 on the past year’s working. The report referred to the progress of the union in opening a new playing area. Mention was also of the representative team having won eigh* of 11 matches played. WAIHI SUBUNION The annual meeting of the Waihi Rugby Union was held last evening, when it was decided to open the season on April 27. The report stated that the past season had been a successful one, and the balance sheet showed that the finances of the union were in a more satisfactory position than for some years. Prescott, W. Ellerington. Soccer CONTROL BOARD MEETS At last evening’s meeting of the Control Board of the Auckland Football Association, Mr. A. Menzies presiding, a deputation from the Bon Accord Club requested a reconsideration of the club’s claims for inclusion in Section A of the senior division. Mr. Menzies outlined the board’s reasons for the division of the clubs and pointed out players playing in section B would be considered in the selection of any representative side. After further discussion it was decided to confirm the previous allocation. The date for the closing of entries for the second and third grade open competitions was extended to April 19. The offer of a cup for competition in the senior B section was accepted. In response to the request of the donor it was decided to name the trophy “The Skerrett Memorial Cup,” in recognition of the great service rendered by the late Sir Charles Skerrett to the Association code. Indoor Bowling AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the Auckland Friendly Societies’ Indoor Bowling Association was presided over by the president, Bro. F. A. Harris. The annual report and balance-sheet showed the association to be rapidly progressing on sound lines. Two special features of last year were visits to the Helensville Friendly Societies Association and to the Maxine Suburbs’ Association. These will be repeated this year. As there is a likelihood of a South Auckland Indoor Bowling Association being formed this year h visit to this centre may also be arranged. ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Ancient Order of Foresters’ Indoor Bowling Association: —Patron, Bro. W. A Knaggs, past district chief ranger; president, Bro. Wm. H. Drew; secretary and treasurer, Bro. H. Crawford; management committee, officers ex-officio and the delegate from each affiliated court. The first tourney of the season, the singles, which commenced on Saturday last in the Ponsonby Drill Hall, will be continued next Saturday. The secretary submitted a comprehensive report of the activities of the club during the past season, when it annexed the fourth grade championship and won the handicap knock-out tournament at the end of the season.
