In the Market Place
NEW BANANAS FRUIT RATES STEADY New Fijian bananas, ex Tofua, are being offered in the City Markets today. The rates ruling show no great change from those existing for several weeks past. Bananas have been comparativelv scarce on the markets lately, and choice repacks have all sold. Generally, there is a steady tone in all fruit lines. A few mandarins and oranges which came by the Tofua are to be brought forward for auction to-day. After a period of depression, Te Kauwhata grapes have risen sharply in value. The rise indicates the approach of the end of the grape season. Apples and pears are selling steadily, but tomatoes and persimmons have dropped in value. Peaches are now off the market. Southern potatoes have improved in quality.
