Obituary
MRS. G. GIBSON The death has occurred at Matamata of Mrs. G. Gibson, of Inglewood. Mrs. Gibson was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Finlayson, Matamata. She came to New Zealand with her parents about ten years ago, and has since resided mostly in Matamata. An earnest church-worker, she was a member of many different organisa-* tions in connection with St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. MR. J. H. GOATLEY Mr. James Henry Goatley, who has died at Warkworth at the Tige of 89, was born in Oxfordshire and came to New Zealand in 18S4, settling at Walworth and living on the same farm until his death. Tie was one of the most prominent fruitgrowers in the district and a consistent exhibitor at local shows. He was a keen sportsman and a good shot. Mr. Goatley is survived by his wife and one son, Mr. A. M. Goatley, of Wark worth. MR. THOMAS ADAMSON A settler in the Papatoetoe district for 46 years, Mr. Thomas Pride Adamson, has died at Papatoetoe at the age of 91. Born in Dundee, Scotland, Mr. Adamson completed his apprenticeship to the engineering trade and then emigrated to Australia, where he went gold-dig-ging. At the time of the Gabriel’s Gully gold rush in New Zealand he arrived in this country and spent a long time on the South Island goldfields. Later he came to Auckland and resumed work as an engineer, working also at Thames. In 1871 he married Miss Marion R. Gilmore, of Auckland, and soon afterwards they took up land at Flat Bush, Papatoetoe, where they remained for 46 years. On retiring they went to Waiuku, where they spent nine years. Mrs Adamson died in January, 1927, and a few months later Mr. Adamson returned to Papatoetoe, where he had lived until his death.. Mr. Adamson is survived by two sons and six daughters. There is a large number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
