To-day The question of bank holidays is one which has been considered by the Associated Chambers of Coav merce for some years oast, and for the first time the chambers are preparing for action in the matter. Following protests at the closure of the banks last Christmas and v. Year. Mr. J. T. Grose, chairman of th* Associated Banks, announced that the business community should prepare some schedule and submit it to the Associated Banks for their consider tion. This is now being done. The various chambers are beimcircularised and asked their opirtmT and following this there will be drawn up a list of holidays to be considered at the annual conference of the ass, ciated chambers in June. After thk the banks will be asked to abolish their schedule of holidays and substitute the schedule approved bv q, conference.
