FINGER INJURY
BASIS OF COMPENSATION CLAIM FAILURE OF SUIT Alleging that a scratch on the linger received by her husband in the course of his work, was the cause of his death, Annie Finlay, widow (Mr. G. P. Finlay), claimed £I,OOO compensation and £SO medical expenses from the Parker-Lamb Timber Company, Limited (Mr. H. P. Richmond), at the Arbitration Court yesterday. The claim was heard before Mr. Justice Frazer, Mr. L. J. Schmitt, employers’ assessor, and Mr. A. L. Monteith, employees’ assessor. The claim was for damages and funeral expenses in respect of Robert Finlay, husband of the claimant, ! who allegedly died from toxaemia » and septicaemia arising out of a | trifling injury to his finger while he was in the employ of defendants as nightwatchman. Medical evidence was concerned with whether deceased’s death resulted from the injury to the finger or through the pricking or interference with a pimple on the finger. The court held that the original cause of death was not sufficiently : clearly defined and judgment was ! given for defendant.
