SERIOUS CHARGE FAILS

IDENTITY IN DOUBT

While one girl witness against a married man charged in the Police Court this morning with indecent exposure was certain that the accused was the offender, her girl companion was not.

Because of this, Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., said that it would be too much of a risk to carry on the charge against the man. Mr. Hunt remarked that it was certain, in spite of the dismissal of the charge, that a man had committed an offence before the girls.

It was stated that the offence took place at St. Leonard’s Beach, Takapuna, on March 23. Accused, who conducted his own defence, denied that he had been on the beach a~ that date.
