BRITISH CATHOLICS
PART IN THE COMING ELECTION
EDUCATION CHIEF ISSUE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) LONDON, Saturday. Cardinal Bourne, in his presidential address to the Roman Catholic Truth Society, said there was only one question in connection with the general election which concerned them as Roman Catholics, namely, education. The bishops of England and Wales and he were most anxious that the question should not become a matter of party politics. “We are properly interested in Empire unemployment, disarmament and everything that makes for world peace, ’ said the/Cardinal, “but education demands our earnest attention because we are Roman Catholics and the interests of our Church in this country are in our hands. We are going to put the position before each party in order that no candidate shall be able to say six months hence that he did not know what we wanted.” A British Official Wireless message says the second of the pre-dissolution political wireless broadcasts was given last evening. On behalf of the Labour Party Mr. Arthur Henderson, M.P., addressed listeners throughout the country. He mad 6 a comprehensive statement of the aims and achievements of his party.
