Mr Norman Heath ,who has been visiting the South, returned to Auckland this morning on the Limited. Mr. Hope Gibbons, an ex-Mayor of Wanganui, is visiting Auckland. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. Justice Frazer and Mrs. Frazer arrived on Saturday from Wellington. They are staying at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. C. A. Berendsen, of the Department of External Affairs, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Mr. Justice Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy arrived in Auckland yesterday from Wellington. are staying at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. H. C. Thomas, general manager for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films, arrived in Auckland from Wellington by Saturday’s Limited. Dr. M. H. Watt, acting-Director of General Health, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Mr. E. H. Schureck, New Zealand manager for First National Pictures, who has been visiting Auckland, left for Wellington last evening. Mr. A. E. Manning, of has been appointed to the seat on the Hamilton Fire Board, left vacant by the death of Mr. G. Parr, the Government representative, Mr. C. K. Lawrie, a former Mayor ot Pukekohe, will be a candidate for the Mayoralty at the forthcoming election. The present Mayor, Mr. John Routly, is also a candidate. The Rev. Father Devolder, who returned to New Zealand during the week after a trip to Holland and Java, is visiting Dargaville before taking over duties in a King Country parish. The Rev. A. A. Armstrong, who has been staying at Devonport, left last evening for Wellington. He has accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church at Seatoun, where he will settle. Mr. J. R. Kirk, of Gisborne, a director of the Australian Provincial Assurance Association, Mr. G. Bruce Smith, of Sydney, general manager of the company, and Mr. G. Peacock, of Wellington. manager for New Zealand, are staying at the Hotel Cargen. Colonel Levi Taylor, field-secretary for the Canada East territory of the Salvation Army, with headquarters at Toronto, has been appointed secretary in command of operations in New Zealand. The colonel and Mrs - . Taylor are expected to arrive in Auckland about May 20. Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, who has been receiving treatment at Hamilton, came to Auckland by car on Saturday.
