SIN, DISEASE, DEATH
DEVOID OF REALITY CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS’ VIEWS “Are Sin. Disease and Death Real?” was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, yesterday. The text was from James v.: 13: “The prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up; and if lie have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon was the following from the Bible: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” “All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” John i.: 1, 3. The lesson-sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook: “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddey: “In the Gospel of John it is decared that all things were made through the Word of God, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” Everything good or worthy, God made. Whatever is valueless or baneful Pie did not make, hense it unreality. In the science of Genesis wo read that Pie saw everything which He had made, “and behold, it was very good.” The corporeal senses declare otherwise; and 'if we give the same heed to tlie history of error as to the records of truth, the Scriptural record of sin and death favours the false conclusion of the material senses. Sin, sickness and death must be deemed as devoid of reality as they are of good, God.”
