The refusal of the Post and Telegraph Department to remove poles’ on the Otangarei Road, which the Whangarei Borough Council desires to widen, has involved what the council considers to bean important principle. Consequently, although the cost of the poles is only about £3O, the council has taken legal advice and has \ given the department 14 days in which | to remove the poles. After that tirrw has elapsed work will be begun and if the poles are still in position action will be taken against the department for obstructing the road.
