Steady Demand for Banks By “Noon Call” ' ALL the better class investments met with a steady demand /» on Change this morning. A healthy volume of business was maintained right to the close.

FLUCTUATIONS Price movements shown in sales over the past 24 hours when prices compared with those at the time of the previous reported sale include:— , A Waihi Mining, rise of Id. Farmers’ Trading, rise or Id. The banking group continues active on a very firm market. New Zealands art meeting with a very steady demand. Nationals of New Zealand are neglected, with buyers showing on inclination to put in a declaration. * * * The miscellaneous section is receiving more attention, with investors looking more to shares which have been more or less neglected over the past year or so. Sanfords Ltd. come under this category. The scrip is in steady demand on a market which shows an upward tendency. Wilsons Cements are firmer, with business being transacted in the scrip on all New Zealand ’Changes. Australian industrials are firm, but there is not

the keenness in the demand registered prior to the Easter vacation. The mining group is quite within the stage apparently set for a mild boom should anything eventuate out of the more frequent rumours which have been coming up from tne Thames dis-* trict latey. At the moment, however, there doesn’t appear to be any grounds for forecasting anything spectacular. Waihis are slightly firmer. Business yesterday afternoon: South British Insurance, 665; Auckland Gas (con.), 18s 3d; Northern Steamship, 15s; Kauri Timber, 17s 6d; Farmers’ Trading, 8s 4d; Sanfords (ord.), 18s 6d; Auckland Fire Board, 6 per cent., £lO3 10s; N.Z. War Loan, 1933, 5£ per cent., £lOl. Business this morning;—Commercial Bank of Australia, 29s 9d; Bank of New Zealand, 62s 3d; Bank of New South Wales, £sl ss; British Tobacco, 48s; Waihi Mining, 13s Sd’; Westport Stockton (ord.), 2s 9d.
