THOUSANDS OF LETTERS FROM STARS’ ADMIRERS ARRIVE EVERY MONTH One of the biggest problems that the officials at the Paramount studios have to face is the disposal of what is known as “fan mail.” Thousands of picturegoers all over the world delight in sending letters to their favourite stars, and every day a deluge of letters descends on Hollywood, which has a postal staff as large as that of a big city. Thirty-three people at the Paramount studios, receive in all, a total average of 10,000 letters a day; that is 250,000 a month. Clara Bow receives close on 40,000 each month, and other stars are not far behind her. A big staff is employed to open and sift the contents of the letters, for they are a very valuable indication of the popularity of the star.
