“GROSSLY UNFAIR”

OTAHUHU WORKSHOPS RUMOURS ■ DENIAL BY EMPLOYEES .1 Some grossly unfair statements which have been made to the effect that men working in the Ctanuhu Workshops are disgruntled were emphatically denied yesterday. These statements, which are quite without foundation, said that some of the men had decided to do only a certain amount of work each day, that the men were disgruntled about having to move their homes to other centres.

and that the modern machinery had caused men to be put off. To-day the employees of the Otahuhu Railway Workshops held a meeting, which was very largely attended, and all the rumours and irresponsible statements were emphatically denied. The meeting expressed resentment at the suggestion that a “go-slow” policy was being pursued or that any limitation of work had ever been suggested. It was stated after the meeting that the men had never expressed resentment at the installation of modern and up-to-date machinery. On the contrary, they would welcome all the lab-our-saving devices the department cared to instal. One of the men stated *o a Sun representative after the meeting: It is grossly unfair that we should be libelled by the vapourings of some irresponsible individual who- will now have the opportunity of-coming into the open.”
