A Dull Sale of Trotting Stock

POOR PRICES REALISED (Special to THE SUN) HAWERA, Tuesday. Although there was a large attendance of North and South Island owners at the annual sale of J. R. Corrigan’s stock to-day, it was early evident that there was a slump in tbe trotting stock market. In the forenoon most of those billed for sale were paraded, and some particularly good youngsters were seen in action. The auctioneers, however, experienced a hard day, and bids were started at a low price and drawn after many appeals on the mustard plaster system. Apart from the young stock all horses in training were submitted, but no business resulted.

Top price was realised for a four-year-old trotting filly by Petereta from Lady John, Mr. L. Bolton (Kaponga). being the buyer at 132$gns. The chestnut colt by Aerial Bingen from T. Roe’s great trotter, Gold Girl, brought 36gns„ a gift to the purchaser, while a Travis Axworthy— Monica Galindo two-year-old was secured by Mr. Bolton for 61gns. Mr. J. A. Mitchell, of Palmerston North, submitted a yearling by King, and although a splendid looking colt only realised 20gns. . Our Patch was also put up JJJ passed in at 50gns. Kevin Brae faiiea to draw an offer higher than £33, ano was passed in.
