There was a large attendance and the totalisator handled £15,878 10s, against £15,586 on the third day last year. The total for the meeting was £53,631 10s, against £60,444 10s last year. Did Not Run On So easily did Prodice settle the opposition in the Great Northern Oaks that there was more money for her in the St. Leger than her previous form warranted. She ran a fine race, too. France had a difficult job to control the filly in the early stages of the race and he eventually gave her her head six furlongs from home, and she and Toxeuma were together at the turn. Prodice looked to have the race won 100 yards from the post, but the last bit found out a weak spot. A Royal Price Nobody wanted to be on Subdivision in the sprint on Monday, and though Vallar beat him comfortably he paid a great price for second. He has not possessed too much stamina in the past, and has raced indifferently on occasions. but his present form would warrant a good race going down to the credit of the Surveyor gelding. He was not too prominent until over the last bit. and as he has won all his races from the front, it was surprising to see him come from the back. Sprint Failures Aussie had every chance in the sixfurlong flutter at Ellerslie on Mondav, being prominent all the way and failing to finish with that customary dash of his. He was fifth at the end, just ahead of the rest of the field. The Begum ran a solid race for third money and this fine galloper should earn more stake money in the near future.
