MARCHING ON KABUL
AMANLLLAH’S ADVANCE THREE MURDERS AT HERAT (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) DELHI, Sunday. The ex-King, Amanullah, of Afghanistan, is marching on Kabul, the capital, with 30,000 troops armed with Russian rifles and ammunition. Considerable lighting is proceeding between the rival forces, j The rebel King, Habibulla, is pre- ; paring to defend the capital with a j steadily decreasing force against Amanullah. Another claimant to the throne is Prince Omar Khan, a member of the Afghan Royal Family, who escaped from detention at Allahabad recently. The assassination is reported at Calcutta from Herat—capital of the province of that name—of the unpopular Governor, liis nephew, whom the Governor was planning to put in his place, and a colonel who went to their rescue. Mutinous troops were responsible for the murders. The nephew of the Governor was a supporter of the ex-King Amanullah. All foreigners and Indians have been ordered to leave Herat.
