MINISTER ON TOUR
MR. RANSOM AT WAIROA Press Association WAIROA, To-day. The Minister of Public Works, the lion. E. A. Ransom, accompanied by Mr. F. W. Furkert, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, and a Hawke’s Bay departmental officer, arrived at Wairoa on Saturday evening. The Minister received several deputations from back-blocks settlers asking for road access and also one from the Borough Council with requests, including a new courthouse and for assistance in works to prevent river erosion and Mohaka .bridge maintenance. The party was afterwards entertained by local bodies at a smoke concert. Yesterday they visited Lake Waikaremoana and inspected the hydro-electric works. To-day they will inspect teh inland railway route will inspect the inland railway route the coast route to Waikokopu tomorrow. The Minister had an enthusiastic reception and created a favourable impression.
