T * CASES AT BIRKENHEAD j | NO CAUSE FOR ALARM j COMPLAINTS ABOUT DRAINAGE | Three cases of diphtheria and one j of scarlet fever have been reported i during the past week from Birken- i head. J The Health Department is taking j the usual precautions in fumigating J the homes affected, and in excluding j any of the affected children from the j schools. < In the area affected householders J have complained about the unsatis- J factory conditions of the drainage and J inquiries from the Health Department i state that the complaint is justified, J and it was hoped that the proposed ! loan for drainage, which will shortly ! be put to the ratepayers, will be car- S ried. The department, also states that 11 there is no fear of alarm as all pos- ! « sible precautions have been taken to j | prevent a spread of the complaint. 1 j
