EVENTS AT WHANGAREI (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Saturday. Tlie Whangarei Swimming Club held a record carnival at the school baths last night. Walker, the Whangarei representative at the New Zealand championships and winner of the championship 100yds, gave an exhibition swim over three lengths of the baths. WEIR AT TE KUITI POOL FOR SWIMMERS (From Our Own Correspondent) TE KUITI, To-day. To celebrate the official opening of the swimming weir recently constructed on the Mangaokewa River, in j the heart of the town, a swimming carnival was held at Te Kuiti on Saturday afternoon. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., declared the weir open. There was a large attendance. The Te Kuiti Women’s Civic League had charge of the arrangements for afternoon tea, and stallholders did brisk business. An effort to raise the remainder of the cost of building the weir is to be made within the next few days.
