KING’S HAIR WHITE NOW
EFFECT OF HIS ILLNESS SATISFACTORY PROGRESS (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Friday. A bulletin issued at 11.30 a.m. stated that the King had passed a good night and that his progress, although it is slow, is satisfactory. The next bulletin will be issued on Friday evening. Palace circles are pleased with the bulletin, and point out that for the first time the doctors have used the phrase “satisfactory progress.” The qualification “slow” is understood to mean that if the progress is not faster, nevertheless it is more definite. Commentators, however are guarded and emphasise that there is still a long and tedious task ahead, but it may be assumed that the King is gathering strength. Lord Dawson of Penn. Sir Hugh Rigby, and Sir Stanley Hewett were in consultation for 90 minutes. The “Daily News” says the King has aged owing to his illness. His hair is now completely white. The “Lancet” endorses the prognostications of the King’s medical advisers, ancl says: “At last we may indulge in happy anticipation of convalescence.” The “Medical Journal” says it may be inferred without undue optimism that his Majesty has definitely gained ground. The outlook is more hopeful than at any time during the past seven weeks.
