W. Grounds left last evening by the Limited for Wellington. Dr. Abbott arrived in Auckland this morning from Wellington by the Limited. Mr. F. D. McLiver returned to Auckthis this morning on the Marama after a visit to Sydney. Sir Harry Lauder left for Rotorua tnia morning. He will spend a few days there and go on to Taupo later. Mr. John Sutch, of Melbourne, arrived from Australia #>y the Marama mis morning. lie is on a holiday visit. Mr. H. J- Diddams, C.M.G., formerly Mayor of Brisbane, is staying with his lister, Mrs. F. J. Kenderdine, of Kemuera. Mr. E. J. Prondergast, of Auckland, who has been visiting Sydney, returned to Auckland by the Marama this morning. Mr. David McMillan, managing director of the Alexander Hamilton Institute. Sydney. arrived by the Aorangl on Sunday. Mr. George Cullen, of Auckland, and his daughter, Mrs. Eric Bruce, returned on the Marama this morning, after a two months’ visit to Australia. Mr. J. D. Spedding, of South Australia, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Marama and will go on to Dunedin to visit relatives there. The Hon. G. V. Maxwell, M.L.C., Chief Native Commissioner, Kenya Colony, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Marama to visit his family. The Rev. Cecil A. B. Watson, vicar of St. Paul’s, recently became ill, when on holiday. It is likely he will not bo fit to resume duty for two or three weeks. Mr. J. A. Valentine, ex-chief inspector of schools in Taranaki, and Mrs. Valentine, returned to New Zealand this fnorning after a trip to England which has lasted a year. They were l»assengers on the Marama. Mr. William Cahili. general manager for New Zealand for . the Southern Cros» Assurance Co., Ltd., returned by the Marama this morning from a holiday trip to Australia. He was accomoanied by his wife and family. The Rev. W. M. • Clow, D.D., exirincipal of the Presbyterian College of Glasgow; arrived in Auckland to-day as passenger on the Marama from Sydney. For the next fortnight he will tour New Zealand. Messrs. R. S. Black and C. H. Hayward, members of the Dunedin City Council, have announced their intention of standing as candidates for the Mayoralty at the municipal elections in April.—PA. Mr. W. E. Barnard, M.P. for Napier, spent the week-end in Dargavflle, and was the guest of Mr. J. G. Barclay, at Omana. Mr. Barnard is shortly removing from Helensville to Napier, where he will reside in future. Mr. David Pollock, managing director of the Dominion Investment and Banking Association, has, as the result of a paper presented by him on “Co-opera-live Economics and Savings,” been chosen a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, London. Dr. Percival R. Cole, of Sydney, is on his way by the Aorangi to Hawaii', where he has been appointed visiting Carnegie Professor of International Relations.
