PEARLING REVIVAL
DIVING HAZARDS AT BROOSE PERTH Thursday. The pearling industry at Broome shows a revival compared with last year. One hundred luggers were licensed during the year, and the amount of shell raised was S2O tons, worth, at £IBO a ton, £147,600. Most of the shell was shipped to New York. One pearl sold for £lO 000. The number of divers employed was 168, most of them Japanese, eight of whom perished during the year in the courseofdiving^oper^ions.
