In making the reins for the teddy or dog, you will need 2 additional bells. Cut 2 lengths each of two different colors of wool, and one of the third color, or five lengths of the shaded wool. Make each length 4 yards long. Taking the lengths together, knot them at one end. Pin down this knot, and braid the length, taking the two strands of one color together, and letting the single strand be braided in that wav. 1 N braiding, the unknotted end will commence to braid, too, when starting at the knotted end. rhis can be disentangled b y pulling out the single strand of the braid, and so continuing to the end. Knot the second end. Nine inches from one end make two knots next to each other, and cut between them. Undo the knots on the smaller piece, and sew the ends around the larger piece. .which has been looped, thus forming the cross piece of the reins. The ends of the smaller piece are to be sewn, so that they can move on the larger piece. Undo the knots on the ends of the larger piece, and knot the ends together, finishing it neatly. QP one piece of felt cut three 21 and three Is inch circles, and of the other piece three 2-inch ones. Cut the edges irregularly. Lay the latter between the other two circles, and join them in the centre, making a flower. Sew the three flowers on to the cross piece of the reins. In the centre of each flower sew a bell, sewing’ it on firmly. The toy reins are made in the same way, only that three single strands are sufficient for the braid.
