CHEAP STRAWBERRIES
LOWEST PRICE FOR 16 YEARS Ripe strawberries—thousands ' of them. So many in fact that Auckland's City Markets are carrying the largest stocks in their history. And the prices have not been as low since 1912. First-grade berries are bringing only 7d and 8d a chip and second quality fruit is at a penny less. Salesmen are having the greatest difficulty in coping with the flood of supplies. The extraordinary rush has been most apparent during the past two days and reached its peak this morning. The glut of supplies is all the more remarkable in view of the unfavourable w-eather. Growers have managed to produce some fine quality fruit, but the heavy rain has affected the demand to a serious degree from the suppliers point erf view. _
