EMPEROR HIROHITO OPENS PARLIAMENT
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. TOKYO, Wed. To-day the Emperor Hirohito, in his uniform as a generalissimo, and escorted by cavalry, proceeded to the House of Peers and personally read the rescript opening Parliament with full ceremony. Many princes and diplomatic representatives were present. After the presentation of the replies to the throne. rhe%Houses will adjourn to January 20.
