“WARMING UP” Richard Dix’s latest picture “Warm - Ing Up” is now at the Britannia Theatre. A baseball jinx and a romance in n kitchen. That is the theme of “Warming Up,’* which is action on a diamond background. Baseball is the cause and romance is the result. Dix is a country lad who comes to the metropolis to show the world that he can pitch a ball with any of the cracks. And he does. He also finds h sweet young thing to look after his interests and pull the strings for his benefit. So. while he believes everything is coming to him because of his merit, the girl knows "what every "woman knows.” The heroine is a slim, delightful creature, with a sense of humour. “Crazy Maizie.’* an exceptionally humorous comedy starring Lillian Harvey, is the second attraction.
“RIDERS OF THE DARK” AT EMPIRE Not for some time has the Empire Theatre shown a picture so replete ''vith adventure, peril, drama and romance as "Riders of the Dark.” Metro-Uoldwyn-Maycr’s starring vehicle for Tim McCoy, which is at presen being screened there. The story centres around the evil activities of a gang of law-breakers m a small border town in the ’Bo’s, more particularly with the fate that overtook the local newspaper owner, a Earless old man who bitterly attacked the gang—and his pretty young daughter (played by Dorothy Dwanj. who. with the aid of a cavalry officer, bring the gang to justice, and lind a romance of their own. “Stop That Man,” the second feature. stars Barbara Kent and Arthur l«ake in a comedy of the misfortunes °f a boy who wore his brother’s police uniform. Jack Ross is hastening completion of the' third series of Collegians in order to prepare for the announced mrwietoning of aU Xutur# Collegian •pisode*. -
