WELLINGTON-OTAGO MATCH McGIRR’S FORCEFUL PLAY Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The Plunket Shield match Wellington against Otago, was continued today in fine weather. Lamason 52, and McGirr 30, continued their innings, Eastman and A. Alloo bowling. Runs came fairly freely, particularly from Alloo, and 300 went up after 20 minutes play. McGirr reached his 50 with a snick through the slips off Eastman, after being at the crease for 52 minutes. When the score was 316 Elmes relieved Alloo. Eastman was bowling steadily. With the total at 328, McGirr returned a low one to Elmes, who accepted the catch. The retiring batsman had played a forceful innings. Lambert filled the vacancy, but did not last long, being clean-bowled by Eastman three runs later. Hoar followed, to see Lamason reach 70 with a single off Elmes. Hoar was bowled by Eastman before scoring. READY FOR PLAY GAME AT WELLINGTON Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. Following the rain of Tuesday night and the bad conditions yesterday, the weather to-day is fine. The sky is clouded and the atmosphere somewhat close, but indications are for bright sunshine throughout the day. An inspection of the wicket at the Basin Reserve gives the impression that it is in excellent order for the continuation of the Plunket Shield match, Otago versus Wellington.
