Lamason 52, and McGirr 30, continued their innings, Eastman and A. Alloo bowling. Runs came fairly freely, particularly from Alloo, and 300 went up after 20 minutes play. McGirr reached his 50 with a snick through the slips off Eastman, after being at the crease for 52 minutes. When the score was 316 Elmes relieved Alloo. Eastman was bowling steadily. With the total at 328, McGirr returned a low one to Elmes, who accepted the catch. The retiring batsman had played a forceful innings. Lambert filled the vacancy, but did not last long, being clean-bowled by Eastman three runs later. Hoar followed, to see Lamason reach 70 with a single off Elmes.
