GOLF MANAGEMENT IN AUSTRALIA VIgWS OF KIRKWOOD Reed. 12.40 p.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Joe Kirkwood, the golfer, departed for America to-day after a holiday visit to Australia. Discussing the game iu Sydney, he expressed surprise that despite a great increase in the number of players in the past eight years, the standard had not improved, hut rather had slipped back. Another surprise, he remarked, was that the government of the game in
Australia remained in the hands of a select few, who were self-appointed 25 years ago. The introduction of youth and virility into the management would send the game ahead. Kirkwood proposes to revisit Australia next season, to compete in the professional championship, for which he gave a cup.
