Mrs. <G. Scrimgeour is visiting Whangarei. At the Grand Hotel are Lady Myers and Miss Myers, of Leicester. Mr. and Mrs. C. Honore, of Raetihi, are staying at the Central Hotel. Staying at the Royal are Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Church, of New Plymouth. Miss Thelma Sutherland, of Suva, Fiji, is staying at “Fernleigh,” Symonds Street. Mrs. A. W. Blair, who has been staying in Hamilton, left on Saturday lor Auckland. Mrs. J. F. Montague, who has been visiting friends in Wliangarei, returns to Auckland early this week. Miss \V. R. Mackenzie, of Wellington, who has been spending a holiday in Auckland, has gone to Rotorua. * * * Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Jessel, of London. and Mr. and Mrs. B. Power, of Wellington, are guests at the Hotel Cargen. Nlrs. Hume and Miss Moliie Hume, who have been visiting Auckland, return to their home in the Wairarapu this evening. Mrs.. Nash, of Auckland, has been staying with her sister, Mrs. J. Bollard, in Hamilton. She has now gone to Te Aroha. Miss Thelma Sutherland, of Suva, Fiji, has come to New' Zealand on an extensive holiday visit, and is at present staying in Auckland. Mrs. Nicholson Miller, of Havelock North, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs. Douglas McGregor, of Arney Crescent. Remuera, returned home last evening. Lady Myers, widow of the late Sir Arthur Myers, lias been touring New Zealand by motor-car for the last five weeks, and arrived back in Auckland from Rotorua yesterday. Her son, Mr. K. Myers, Mr. B. Wade, and Miss D. Hadfield accompanied her. The party will leave for England by the Aorangi from Auckland on January 1.

MISS BETTY LOCKHART Miss Betty Sinclair-Lockhart. who will be a bride early in the New Year, was the guest of honour at a delightful little party on Saturday afternoon, given by Miss McGregor at

MISS BETTY SINCLAIR-LOCKHART her home in Arney Crescent, Remuera. The party Was a novel one, each guest bringing an original and useful recipe to give to the bride-elect. Marigolds spilled their golden colour around the rooms and provided gay relief on the tea-tables in the dining-room. To receive her guests Miss Me* G.regor wore a pretty frock of cinnamon crepe de. chine. Miss Lockhart was wearing an apricot-shaded jumper suit of chenille georgette, and a hat to tone. The guests included:—Miss Bul-lock-Webster, Miss P. Lindsay, Miss D. Rainger, Miss L. de Renzy, Miss M. Bayly, Miss L. Roberts, Miss L. Rathbone, Miss M. Brigham, Miss J. Heather and Miss B. BRIDGE PARTY FOR BRIDE-TO-BE

The house was attractively decorated with roses and other fragrant flowers. Among those present were the Misses Daphne and Cush la Rainger, : Maisie Walkley, Kitty and Molly Hors- ] ley, Kathleeji and Kona Thompson. I Margaret McKelvie, Betty Jackson. Janet Clarkson, Marjorie Tiarks, Helen Asser, Nancy Biss, Linda de Renzy, ( Joyce Dewing, Meg Russell, M. Brigj ham, and Audrey Bailey.

PUPILS ENTERTAIN

ENJOYABLE PARTY Miss Cecil Hall gave a very jolly party on Saturday evening in the Amateur Operatic Society’s Hall, when about 600 junior pupils, their parents and friends, were present. .The senior pupils assisted the young ones ana finished up the evening with a dance. A programme of 35 items was given, including delightful solos, duos and quartets and ballets. Especially popular were the hunting and ragamuffin ballets, with Nancy Ousley and Cassie Gribble as soloists. Sicilian ballet and tiny tots’ Dutch ballet, a harlequinade by Dallas Lethaby. Joyce Howie, Lois Magill and Elva Parr was very clever and captivating, and other outstanding pupils were Clare Seal, Nancy Ousley, Gaynor Maxwell, Diana Lodge, Patty Gilmour. Meryl Wren, Trelma Spry, Laurie Hammil, Thora Cole. Others who showed ability were Gwen Gatenby, Jacqueline and Betty Johnson, Patty, Field. Dorothy Cocks, and the following charming tiny dancers: Sylvia Collins. Hazel Boviard, Hazel Davis, Jewel Taylor, Jewel and Betty Deely. The singing of Nancy Ousley, Qissie Gribble and Delme Goldsmith was very enjoyable. Competitions. games and dancing filled up the remainder of the evening. Miss Cecil Hall wore a charming black and rose georgette french frock. Her assistant. Miss Isabelle Brook, wore a dainty cherry georgette model. A delightful sketch arranged by Mrs. Carte-Lloyd was given by Tess CarteLlovd, Dallas Lethaby and Vera Rae.

EXTENSIVE RELIEF WORK

HOSPITAL AUXILIARY MEETS

When the depot, committee of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliar* held its monthly meeting, the assistant reported that relief work had been extensive and 335 garments had been distributed. Parcels of clothing had been given to patients in the hospital wards. Gifts had come from the Te Atatu and Birkdaie Women's Institute-arid the Mount Eden and the city sewing circles. The visiting committee lead been active and clothing, fruit, cigarettes and books had been distributed. Votes of thanks were accorded the J.C.L. third floor girls, the Navy League, Hart Bros., Te Atatu and Birkdale Women’s Institute, Mrs. Hepburn, Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. G. Garlick On Saturday', members of the Onehunga branch of the auxiliary visited the Auckland Infirmary. Old English dances were given on the lawn by Girl Guides, and the Onehunga Citizens’ Band played selections. Musical items were given by Mrs. Chapman, Miss Orchard, Mrs. C. Pople and Mr. Ingolls. Flowers and fruit were distributed in the wards after the main entertainment. Similar visits will be organised by the Onehunga Auxiliary over Christmas. The annual Christmas tea entertainment, organised by Sirs. Lonsdale Pritt, of Remuera, will be held at the infirmary next Saturday.
