“CARDBOARD LOVER” AT GRAND

“The Cardboard Lover” is the title of one of the big pictures now being shown at the Grand Theatre. Marion Davies, remembered for her clever work in “The Patsy” and other successes, is the star, and plays the part of a quiet American schoolgirl visiting Monte Carlo. She falls in love there with a tennis champion (played by Nils Asther), but to gain his affections has to contend with the rivalry of a vivacious European brunette, witli a wealth of experience in amorous affairs. How Miss Davies surmounts these difficulties makes an amusing picture. “Sorrell and Son” is the second big picture. This beautiful story of a demobilised officer in post-war England, and his love for his little son, has been declared one of the finest pictures on the screen. H. B. Warner is the star.
