BLOWING BUBBLES

Do you know how to make really gigantic bubbles? It’s easy enough. Instead of tising an ordinary clay pip* you use a funnel. It doesn’t matter if -t is quite small. I have no doubt mother will be able to lend you one. Just fill a saucer with the soapy water, then dip the wide* open end of the funnel in it. and blow just as you do with the pipe. And you’ll find it will make a perfectly lovely big bubble. When you are blowing bubbles you might like to try attaching little fig ures to them and seeing them floai away w ith the bubbles. It can be done. Just let me tell you how. First cut out some little figures in fine tissue paper—they must only be about two inches long. To get the shape of the figures, just lay pictures over the tissue, and cut the figure and the tissue out at the same time. Use only the tissue figure, however. Tie a short length of fine silk to the tissue figure. Fasten the other end of the silk —only a short length to a wee circle of paper. Then blow the bubble, and just as it starts to form stick the wee circle of paper on to the soapy film. It will cling, and then you’ll see the tissue figure float away with the bubble when it leaves the pipe. It tickled my ear. and softly said: “Paddle away, child —don’t you nuss One bit of the sea on a day like this!’ The waves went rippling, quiet and slow, But I heard them say, as I bent down low —- “Now, little boy, don’t go too far You’ll get quite wet enough where you are!”
