INVITED TO LOOK OVER SHIP IN THE HARBOUR
PICKED UP UNCONSCIOUS OLD MAN’S ADVENTURE Invited by two men to Have a look over a ship in the harbour, Alfred Cooper, a married man, aged 68 or 69, living at 60 Grafton Road, agreed and went off with them. The next thing that he remembers is waking up in Stanley Street, with wound-s on his head and serious bruises on his body. He was picked up in Stanley Street about six o’clock last evening by the driver of a postal van, Mr. John Oxford, of 1 Brentwood Avenue, and taken to hospital. When his clothes were gone through at the hospital it was found that there were only a few coppers in hi-s, pockets, but as it is not known how much money he had with him when he accepted the invitation, it is impossible to say whether or not he was robbed.
