Waikato Trotting Club s Progress

BENEFIT OF TEAM WORK ADDITIONAL PERMITS IN SIGHT There is not a more popular fixture in the Auckland provincial trotting calendar than that held each December under the auspices of the Waikato Club, whose headquarters are at Hamilton. There is certainly not a more up-to-date or convenient course in the North Island than the one at Claudeiands, which was opened just 12 month* ago. The progressive club, having been materially assisted through getting permission to. race on occasion* at Auckland, did not lose any time in spending the profits accrued at Alexandra Park, in putting its Claudelands homestead in order and that the monev has been well and wisely spent can be seen in the fine racing and training tracks and the up-to-date general appointments and conveniences. Effect of Team Work The happy position obtaining in this respect is due undoubtedly to the excellent team work efforts of the Waikato management, which has resulted, after much careful consideration, combined with energy and ambition, in putting the pastime on a high plan* in the district. Too much credit can-

not be given the executive and various officials of the Hamilton organisation for their enthusiastic energies in the interest of the club and the sport, white a good measure of praise must be showered upon the past-president, Mr. R. T. Reid, who held office during the period that marked the wonderful progress achieved. Mr. Reid, having given up the position to undertake the more serious duties of stipendiary steward, presidential service is being ably rendered by Air. H. W. Burch, while the secretarial ribbons are row in the capable hands of Mr. T. G. Reynolds. Future Prospects Bright These officials have the hearty co-operation of the various members of the executive, which is a powerful factor toward establishing a sound and successful club.
