MAJESTIC

“THE ADORABLE OUTCAST” Another outstanding programme is the offering at the Majestic Theatre this evening, composed of several fine pictures with special musical accompaniment. The first picture this evening will be “Memories” —Armentieres, Bethune and Arras revisited. Can anyone forget that battered old cathedral and the streets of Armentieres? To-day a fine French memorial stands in the market-place. The old La Basse© Canal las returned to normal business. Fifteen miles away Bethun© is recovering from her wounds. Eighteen miles away is Arras, another too-well remembered spot for many of us. It is a different kind of town to-day, compared with 10 years ago. Then follows a slow-motion film describing the movements of the French tango dance, followed again by a comedy. The main pictorial attraction this evening' is the line Australasian Films picture, “The Adorable Outcast.” from Beatrice Grimshaw’s lovel. “Conn of the Coral Seas.” This picture is rich in spectacle, and picturesque in the sense that it reveals the kind of beauty and scenic display all the more agreeable because it does not hinder the smooth and gripping development of the story. It contains many big episodes possessed of crisp and imposing appeal, including the burning of Fursey’s stronghold on an island. Another magnificent scene reveals hundreds of native outriggers gliding along the ocean witli full sail wooing the refreshing winds. .The weird interior of the heathen temple is depicted with a realism that establishes a superstitious influence- immediately. Edith Roberts. Edmund Burns and Walter Long have the leading roles. Incidental music by the Majestic Orchestra includes “Little Mother.” the latest waltz melody: “Hiding in the Corner of'Your Smile,” “After My Laughter Came Tears,” and “Maid of the Mountains” and “Blue Beard” selections. “The Adorable Outcast,” specially written by Henry T. Hayes, will be featured. Hawaiian selections are “My Honolulu Tom Boy ” “Lei Aloha,” “My Tropical Hula Girl.” “The Old Plantation,” “On the Beach at ■Waikiki.” ‘Alolia Oe.” “Hula o Makee,” “Lia I Ive Alcha.” “My ETonolulu Girl,” and “My Hawaiian Maid.”

After a long vacation Janet Gaynor has started work in “The Street Fair.’.’ Tristram Tupper’s story of life in Holland, written especially for her. William K. Howard will direct this Fox production and Charles Morton will play the lead opposite Miss Gaynoi. Rudolph Schildkraut and Harry Cording have been assigned character roles.
