ARMED MEN WILL GUARD PICTURES WORTH £5,000,000
(Australian and N.Z Press Association) LONDON, Sunday. Armed men were concealed in a specially-constructed motor-van leaving London to collect £5,000,000 worth of pictures from the public galleries and private collections of England and Scotland, for an exhibition of Dutch masters at Burlington House in January. The motor-van was fitted with special springs and a padded case for each of the 300 pictures. There will be armed guards, including local police, by day and night.
