ADOLPHE MENJOU

POPULAR SCREEN ROUE Contrary to general opinion Adolphe Menjou, the popular screen actor, waa not born in France but in Pittsburgh, of Frencli parents. Me studied to bo a mechanical engineer, and though ho completed his course and took his degree, he did not work along that line. As early as 1912 Menjou made his debut in motion pictures, and later toured the country in legitimate plays and vaudeville. He joined the military forces during the Great War and rose to the rank of captain. His first real screen success was in “A Woman of Paris.” Since that time he has steadily risen in public favour and has appeared exclusively in Paramount pictures. He is now engaged in the production of “His Private "Life” at the Paramount studios. His wife, Kathryn Carver, whom he married recently in Paris*, and who has played opposite him in many of his pictures, has the leading feminine role in the production. Following “His Private Life” Menjou will appear in another Paramount picture, ‘‘The Beauty Doctor.” Another story, as yet untitled, has been selected as his third picture of the year. Sue Carol, whose rapid rise to featured roles in motion pictures created a sensation in Hollywood, scores annotable success in “Win That Girl.” This picture, based upon the humorous situations arising from a lootball feud that involves three generations, is due for an early release in New Zealand. David Rollins plays opposite Miss Carol. The casting of the member* of thfi Cohens and Kellys families is rapidly being completed at Universal City. Th« latest addition to the ranks of th« Kelly clan is Cornelius Keefe, who ia to play young Kelly in ‘‘The Cohens and Kellys in Atlantic City.” This production will be made almost entirely at the famous seashore resort. I with William J. Craft directing. George Sydney and Vera Gordon impersonate Mr. and Mrs. Cohen, while Mack Swain and Kate Price are Mr. and Mrs. Kelly*
