H.M.S. DIOMEDE’S BAND
FIRST PERFORMANCE An audience of over 2,000 persons heard the band of H.M.S. Diomede play in the Windsor Reserve, Devonport, last evening. Bandmaster F. Kirkby, late bandmaster Royal Marine Band, controlled the band, which was making its first public appearance. The ship has just been recommissioned and all members of the band, with the exception of Mr. Kirkby, are new men on the Hew Zealand station. The band played hymns and concei. pieces and a trombone solo was played by Mr. Stewart. At the conclusion of the performance cheers were given for the band.
