Magisterial Recount for Bay of Islands
TO START THURSDAY MR. RUSHWORTH PAYS DEPOSIT A magisterial recount of the votes cast in the Bay of Islands election will begin on Thursday. The Government member, Air. Allen Bell, was elected on the casting-vote of the returning officer, and Mr. H. M. Rusliworth therefore lost the election by one vote. A careful scrutiny of all the votes will bo made before a magistrate. Air. Rusliworth has evidently paid a deposit of £2O with Mr. Blundell, the returning officer. This is necessary before the recount can begin. Two magisterial recounts were necessary after the 1925 election. Air. J. McCombs, AI.P. for Lyttelton, was one vote behind Air. M. E. Lyons, and Air. T. E. Y. Seddon, one vote behind Air. J. O’Brien for the Westland seat.
