“CHU CHIN CHOW” AGAIN
OSCAR ASCHE TO APPEAR (Australian and. K.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Saturday. Mr. Oscar Asche will shortly appear in an abbreviated version of his play “Chu Chin Chow.” He says it will be merely an experiment. He hopes to reproduce the full version at a West End theatre at the New Year.
Mr. Oscar Asche, who toured Australia and New Zealand in 1922, took a. lease of His lVlajesty’s Theatre, London, on August 31, 1916, and produced. his own play, “Chu Chin Chow,” in which 'he appeared as Abu Hasan. The play on October 17, 1919, broke the prior record of “Charley's Aunt," which had had 1,466 performances, and ran till July 22, 1921, when it was played for the 2.238 th time. The wrevious longest run
was of "Our Boys," tour years and three nmnths. He also produced “The Blaid of the EVlountains” at Duly‘s in February, 1917, which ran for 1,352 performances.
