(From Our Oicn Correspondent.) Airs. A. W. Barmby, of New Y'ork, is the guest of Airs. Colin Taylor. * * * Miss Jordan, of Te Kuiti, who has been spending some weeks in Tauranga, is at present visting Cambridge before she returns to Te Kuiti next week- * * * Airs. Sidney Simmons returned to Hamilton yesterday from a visit to Palmerston North. * * * FAREWELL PARTIES. Nearly every resident of Kiwitahi was j at the hall on Thursday afternoon to i bid farewell to Airs. Bell, who is leavi ing the district. Her friends had arranged the hall as a drawing room, and had provided afternoon tea for the j many guests present. During the afterj noon Mr. H. V. Wells, on behalf of the i residents and the Alaoris of the district, presented Airs. Bell with an illuminated address. A large number of. parents and scholars were present at the Goodwood School on Friday afternoon to bid farewell to Aliss E. L. Gauntlett, who has recently been appointed to Springdale. The pupils of the school gave an interesting concert programme. Mr. R. Watt ami, chairman of the school committee, and Air. Brown, headmaster, both spoke highly of the good work done by Aliss Gauntlett during the five years she had been with them, and Aliss Barry Harbutt. on behalf of the residents, presented Mrs. Gauntlett with a gold wristlet watch. * * * BRIDGE PARTIES . On Wednesday evening AUs. N. Ratcliffe gave a very pleasant bridge party at her home. Airs. T. S. Lusk, who is shortly going to live in Dunedin, was the guest of honour. Mrs. Ratcliffe had chosen a very smart frock of gold lame and lace, in which to receive her guests. Airs. Lusk was in black georgette beaded in crystal. Progressive bridge was played, the prizes going to Airs. Lusk and Airs. T. C. Fraser. Those present were: Airs. T. S. Lusk, Airs. E. T. Alears. Mrs. T. C. Fraser, Mrs. T. A. Milroy, Mrs. R. Guy, Mrs. A. J. AlcAlullin, Mrs. E. H. O’Meara, Airs. C. Sutcliffe, Aliss E. Eggleston, Aliss G. Eggleston and Aliss Harrowell. * * * On Saturday afternoon a number of Cambridge ladies invited their Hamilton friends to a most delightful bridge party. The party was in St. Andrew’s Hall, Cambridge, which was transformed into a drawing room with vases of shaded Iceland poppies, azaleas and rhododendrons. The committee in charge of the decorations were Airs. Lee Airs. Graham Taylor, Airs. Todd, Aliss Cox and Miss Gwynneth. Other Cambridge hostesses were: Airs. Boston Couper, Airs. D. Lundon, Airs. Caldwell, Mrs. Roberts, Airs. Dillon, Mrs. W. Stopford, Mrs. Sawers, Airs. Rowlands, Mrs. Nealy, Airs. Mervyn Wells, Mrs. Jenmas, Mrs. N. Banks, Mrs. Sutherland, Airs. Innis Taylor, Airs. Couper, Miss M. Hart, Aliss Hay, Aliss Christophers, Miss Calvert. The Hamilton guests were: Airs. Haseler, Airs. L. Jolly, Airs. H. J. Greenslade, Airs. J. Gray, Airs. N. Ratcliffe. Airs. P. Stevens, Mrs. H. J. AlcAlillan, Airs. T. S. Lusk. Airs. L. Shepherd, Airs. A. E. Cox, Mrs. C. Reece, Airs. C. Sutcliffe, Alisses B. Derenzy, E. Morrish, G. Wyatt, E. Eggleston, C. Jolly, F. Jolly, M. Stevens. C. Wallnutt and Jordan (Te Kuiti). The prizes for the afternoon were won by Mrs. Sutherland, Airs. Nealy and Mrs. Dillon. • * * TENNIS SOCIAL Before its opening this week the Tauwhare Tennis Club held a jolly social evening. Coloured streamers and ferns adorned the hall. The music was supplied by the Kit Kat Orchestra. Novelty dances were won by Mrs. D. Shaw and Air. J. Shaw. Aliss Hunt and Mr. R. Shaw. Among those present were: Alesdames C. Ramsay, W. Ferno, F. OHAKUNE FAREWELL Between 40 and 50 women met at the Plunket Rooms, Ohakune, on Thursday afternoon, to bid farewell to Mrs. Lyttle and her daughter Olive on the occasion of their departure for Wellington. The function was arranged by Mesdames Goldfinch and Burling, as a token of appreciation of the assistance given by the guests in connection with many movements for the welfare of the district. Mrs. Goldfinch (Mayoress) presided, and wished their guests every good fortune in the future. The Mayoress asked Mrs. Lyttle to accept a handsome handbag and purse. Miss Olive Lyttle was presented with u powder bowl. Mrs. Lyttle and Miss Olive Lyttle thanked those present for their good wishes, and presents. The competitions were won by Mesdames Lightband, York, and Wright. The games of 500 were won by Mesdames Bagrie, Bolsted, C. Clemett, and Master H. Curran. Mrs. Lyttle was dressed in pale blue I crepe de chine, and Miss Olive Lyttle wore vieux rose crepe de chine.
