ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON A very enjoyable afternoon, organised by the committee in charge of the toy stall, at the forthcoming parish fair, was held at the residence of ‘Mrs. G. McDell, Avenue Road West. Otahuhu. on Friday. There was a. large attendance of members and friends of the Anglican Church, and a. large assorrnent of toys was received for the stall. Musical items were contributed by Mrs. Carsley Brady, planoforte solo: Mrs. Fugle and Miss Clark. vocal duet; Airs. WOMEN S RESERVE THAMES BRANCH COMPLIMENTED A well-deserved compliment was paid by the headquarters of the Women's National Reserve to the Thames branch. in a letter to the effect. that the Thames branch is considered one of the most satisfactory and enthusiastic of the country branches. lilrs. E. F. Adams has been president of the Thames branch since its inception in 1915. Every year the association conducts a street stall for the purpose of rais—ing funds to purchase Christmas presents for the people of the Tararu Homes. including a special tea and motor drive. Last Thursday the annual stal 1 was held in ‘Pollen Street. and the sum of £25 was raised. out of which the society intends to present two deck-chairs, with extensions, to the hospital, for the use of convalescents. The final meeting of members for the year 1928 was held on Friday, at which the president thanked the niem—bers for their enthusiasm. She concluded by saying that no president could have a. finer body of helpers, al—ways working in perfect harmony, and ‘always so dependable. x SURPRISE PARTY » A surprise party visited the homo of} Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Dingle on Saturday evening, when some of the friends of Miss Marjorie Dingle gave her a novelty evening.
