RIALTO, NEWMARKET
“PARTNERS IN CRIME” High melodrama of the most tlirilling sort combines with the delicious comedy that only Wallace Beery and Raymond Hatton can provide and an absorbing love theme, in “Partners in Crime,” to be shown this evening at the Rialto Theatre, Newmarket. “Parners in Crime” is a decided step from the beaten path in team comedies. Whereas such comedies in the past have been little more than a collection of loosely joined incidents designed solely to create laughs, this picture tells a thrilling story. Incidents of the story provide richly for laughter, but the laughs are subordinate to the absorbing plot interest. The theme of “Partners in Crime’ is the ever-thrilling one of the law’s battle against crooks of the underworld. The locale of the picture is a great American city, torn by crime and cowed by the ruthless savagery of uncontrolled gangsters. “Vanity,” an intriguing drama of a society girl and a man from the slums, starring Leatrice Joy, is the second feature. EDENDALE SHOWS “WYOMING” “Wyoming,” the latest Tim McCoy picture, will be shown at the Edendale Theatre this evening. McCoy’s outdoor romances have an irresistible appeal, no doubt because all his stories are taken from actual history, and because they are directed with thrill and an amazing amount or realism. The story follows a train of covered waggons, laden with hardy pioneers of both sexes, along the Oregon trail of Wyoming in ISBS, to productive lands in the interior Danger besets them on every hand—resentful red men lurk in every thicket —drama is crouching behind the crest of every hill. "Ladv Windermere’s Fan.’ a beautiful and dramatic picture. starring Irene Rich and Ronald Colman, will also be shownMARION DAVIES AGAIN The really smart woman should b* able to wear sports clothes and evening clothes equally well, according to Marion Davies, the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer comedienne of “The Cardboard Lover.” In her latest picture. Miss Davies plays the role of an up-to-date modern young miss figuring in the continental society of Monte Carlo, and wears both sports and evening clothes with equal assurance. “The Cardboard Lover” was directed by Robert Z. Leonard and the cast includes, Nils Asther, Jetta Goudal, Andres de . Segurola, Tenen Holtz and Pepi Lederer, Miss Davies’s niece.
