ABBOTT LEADS IN FINAL WRIGHT TWO-DOWN Over the first 18 holes of the Auckland Golf Club championship at Middlemore this morning, Abbott was leading R. D. Wright 2 up. Conditions were very poor, the match being played in a high wind 'vith rain threatening. Wright was out in 39, in spite of four lots of three putts, but he made up for this by taking only one putt on four greens. Abbott was out in 42, including 22 putts, and was then two down. On the way back Abbott, with two brilliant threes squared the match and at the next he became one up—an advantage he held till the 18th, which hol~ Wright won. Owing to the 12th, 13tli and 14th, which are on temporary greens, not being played, the 18 holes had to include the first three again. Abbott won the first and second and halved the third, going to lunch two up. The second 18 holes are being played this afternoon.
