REAL FOOD IN “HIT THE DECK”
TMITATION food usually takes the place of real eatables for stage meals, but “Hit the Deck” is an exception. Reginald Sharland sits down to a real supper of pie and chicken and eats it with great gusto. Gus Bluett and Leo Franklyn also swallow yards of bread and sausage rolls, with amusing results. “Hit the Deck” is a riotous nautical musical affair, a trifle too long if anything, but most amusing and tuneful. May Beatty and her “Hallelujah” chorus are two of the big successes of the show.
